Caucasus artist Giovannino explores her unique experiences of reading her emotions in electrical wires and poles.

wires is a 7-minute documentary film directed and produced by Michelle Gagnon. It was shot over 6 days in the winter of 2022, in Tbilisi and Kojori, Georgia, where the artist spent her childhood during the period of country-wide power outages in the 90’s.

WIRES was a multimedia event hosted for the launch of the new Gallery at The Exchange in Tbilisi, Georgia on July 1, 2023.

The gallery space is open for the month of July to view these artworks. It is a collaboration of photographs, sketches, film, and music inspired by Giovannino’s unique perspective on electrical wires. These works encourage the viewer to sees wires as both “artefacts” and “tools” that can assist in a process of reflection and self-discovery.

Giovannino is a multimedia artist from the Caucasus.

She is fascinated by the transformation that occurs when ordinary insignificant objects are imprinted by human emotions and experiences.

The notions of identity inspire most of her works.

Michelle Gagnon is a Tbilisi-based American scriptwriter, filmmaker, and curator for the Gallery at The Exchange. She directed and produced the short documentary film wires.
